Wake Up and Shake Up
In September, with Lottery funding, we will be launching Wake Up and Shake Up.
Wake Up and Shake Up is a selection of routines created by a West Country SSCo, Ruth Mitchell, to provide children with short energising bouts of physical activity. The routines, all done to popular music, get children moving their bodies and feeling “awake”. A small space is all that is needed- a playground if being followed by a whole school or a classroom if being done by a class. The “Wake up and Shake up” lasts about 5 minutes and can be done first thing in the morning, in assembly, following a break or whenever is convenient to schools.
Training for Wake Up and Shake Up will take place in September. During the training you will be introduced to some of the routines, shown the resources and see a group of children learning the set patterns and then improvising their own moves.
Schools who then wish to adopt Wake Up and Shape up will receive the music CD and DVD as well as a “Boogie box” to play the music on.
